DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on Air India

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of Rs 1 crore on Air India. The aviation regulator has taken this action regarding serious violations. Besides, DGCA has also held the top-level management of Air India responsible for the lapse in security. Let us inform that a fine of Rs 1 crore has been imposed for operating the Airbus A320 plane eight times without a valid airworthiness permit. The aviation regulator has described this violation as ‘serious’.

What was said in the DGCA order?
The DGCA order imposing the fine states that the Airbus A320 aircraft was flown without the required Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) on several sectors, including flights connecting New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad, between November 24 and 25 last year.

ARC is a mandatory annual certification issued by aviation regulators when an aircraft successfully passes specified safety and compliance checks. Flying without it is a serious violation of aviation safety norms.

What did Air India say on breaking the rules?
According to sources, DGCA took a strict stance on this rule breaking and termed it as careless attitude of the airline. On the other hand, an Air India spokesperson responded to the DGCA order.

In a statement he said- Air India acknowledges that it had received a DGCA order regarding an incident reported in 2025.

All identified deficiencies have since been fixed and shared with the authorities. Air India remains steadfast in its commitment to maintain the highest standards of operational integrity and safety.
