New Delhi. Dharmendra, Bollywood’s veteran actor and popularly known as ‘He-Man’, died at the age of 89. He breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Hearing the news of his demise, there was a wave of mourning among the film industry, politicians and fans.
Expressing grief over his demise, PM Narendra Modi posted on social media platform X. He wrote, ‘With the demise of Dharmendra ji, an era has ended in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a tremendous actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played.
The way he played different roles has touched the hearts of countless people. Dharmendra ji was equally known for his simplicity, humility and love. In this hour of grief, my prayers are with his family, friends and countless fans. Om Shanti.’
Earlier, President Murmu described Dharmendra’s demise as an irreparable loss. President Murmu wrote in a post on Twitter, ‘The demise of senior actor and former MP Dharmendra ji is an irreparable loss for Indian cinema. He was one of the most popular actors, giving many memorable performances in his decades-long illustrious career.
Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter, ‘The demise of Dharmendra ji, who touched the hearts of every countryman for 6 decades with his excellent acting, is an irreparable loss for the Indian cinema world.
Coming from an ordinary family, he made his mark in the film world. May God give place to the virtuous soul at his feet and give his family and fans the strength to bear this loss. ‘Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.’
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also condoled the actor’s demise. In an ex-post he wrote, ‘The Indian film industry lost a valuable star today.
Famous actor Dharmendra is no more with us. Awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2012, Dharmendra ruled the hearts of cinema lovers for decades and left a deep impression with his phenomenal acting and simple life.
