Beijing. China has demonstrated its power in the sea in such a way that the whole world was shocked to see it. China’s recently commissioned state-of-the-art aircraft carrier Fujian successfully tested its electromagnetic catapult technology. It is being claimed that this technology has completely left the traditional steam catapult behind. A shocking scene was seen in the footage released by China’s state TV. In this test, Fujian’s electromagnetic system stopped a heavy fighter plane weighing 30 tons which was running at a speed of 170 miles per hour in just 0.2 seconds. It is not only a piece of engineering but also a revolutionary leap for safe landing and takeoff of aircraft in war conditions.
According to a Fujian crew member in media reports, the biggest advantage of this system is its ‘explosive acceleration power.’ It gives the aircraft enough speed to take off in a very short distance and can also stop it at the same speed. The biggest thing is that despite being heavy machines, it is much less noisy than a steam catapult. Chinese military expert Song Zhongping says that with the help of this electromagnetic system, the rate of flying of planes from the aircraft carrier will increase manifold, due to which ‘Fujian’ will be able to carry out continuous attacks without stopping during the war.
Fujian practiced takeoff and landing with J-35 stealth fighter, heavy J-15T, electronic warfare aircraft J-15DT and KJ-600 early warning aircraft in its first maritime mission after officially entering service on November 5. This exercise has proved that China has now gone a long way in developing maritime technology at par with America.
