New DelhiThe Union Cabinet, in its first meeting at the new Prime Minister’s Office complex, Seva Tirtha, resolved that every decision taken in the new building will be inspired by the spirit of service to 1.4 billion citizens and linked to the broader goal of nation building. The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi also resolved that the constitutional values for the Cabinet are an expression of the moral commitment that links governance with the dignity, equality and justice of every citizen.
Every decision will be accountable to the aspirations of the public
According to this resolution, the work culture at Seva Tirtha will be guided by that spirit, where every policy will be in line with the fundamental ethos of the Constitution. Every decision will be accountable to the aspirations of the public. This meeting and this building are a direct expression of the reconstruction of a new India as per the ‘Service Pledge’ resolution. The Service Pledge resolution says, ‘With this inauguration we welcome the future whose foundation has been laid by the efforts of centuries. After Independence, for several decades, governments functioned from the Prime Minister’s Office in South Block, preserving the heritage and envisioning the future.’
What was said in the service resolution proposal?
The proposal states, ‘We envisioned an India whose ideology was indigenous, whose form was modern and whose potential was unlimited. Today, Seva Teerth is the embodiment of that vision, which will further enhance India’s pride as the mother of democracy. On this occasion we also remember the history of this place. ‘Seva Teerth’ has been constructed in place of the temporary barracks of the British period. The establishment of an active institution of national governance at that place is also a symbol of the transformation of the new India.
