Kolkata. Women and daughters are not safe in West Bengal. Every day, incidents that disgrace humanity keep coming to light from Bengal. Now, a disgusting incident of gang rape of a girl was allegedly carried out in a deserted factory in Hooghly District. A senior police officer said on Saturday (January 10) that two people have been arrested in this case.
According to the information, the minor, whose age is said to be 16 years, had gone to the closed Hindmotor factory premises with a friend on Thursday evening (08 January). Police said that it is alleged that the accused along with their associates physically abused the minor inside the premises. Police further said that the statements of the arrested accused are being recorded, and the case is being investigated from all angles.
The police have filed charges in this case under the POCSO Act. One of the arrested accused has been identified as Dipankar Adhikari alias Sonai, who is reportedly a Trinamool Congress youth leader in the area. While the other person is the alleged lover of the girl, who is a minor. Police said that they are searching for two more associates of the accused. They are absconding, and a search operation is underway to find them.
