
Action on IndiGo: Amidst the IndiGo crisis, the government has taken major action on the airline. The Civil Aviation Ministry has decided to cancel 10 percent of Indigo flights. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu gave these instructions during the meeting with the CEO of IndiGo.
Indigo CEO was seen with folded hands during the meeting
On Tuesday, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu held a meeting with IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers and other officials. During this, Indigo CEO Peter Elbers was seen with folded hands. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu himself has given information about the action taken on IndiGo.
‘Ordered a 10 percent cut’
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu tweeted, ‘Last week, many passengers faced huge inconvenience due to IndiGo’s internal mismanagement of crew roster, flight schedule and inadequate communication. While the investigation and necessary action is ongoing, another meeting was held with the top management of IndiGo. In which sustainability measures were reviewed. Today again, IndiGo CEO Peter Albers was called to the ministry to give an update. He confirmed that 100% refunds have been completed for the affected flights as of December 6. Strict instructions have been given to expedite the work of remaining refund and handing over of goods.
The Ministry considers it necessary to reduce the number of flights on all routes of IndiGo, which will help in stabilizing the operations of the airline and reducing cancellations. A reduction of 10% has been ordered. Following this, IndiGo will continue flights to all its destinations as before. IndiGo has been directed to follow all the instructions of the Ministry, including fare cap and passenger convenience measures will be implemented without any exceptions.
‘Such irregularities will not be tolerated’
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Yadav has clarified that no airline will be allowed to cause such huge inconvenience and trouble to passengers. He said that it is important to keep safety standards high.
The government has given a clear message to IndiGo that such operational irregularities will not be tolerated in future. If IndiGo does not submit the new schedule on time, or does not show improvement, more stringent measures may be taken.
