With the beginning of the new year, ICICI Bank is going to make major changes in its credit card rules, which will have a direct impact on the pockets of cardholders. The bank has announced new amendments related to credit card service charges, transaction fees and reward points, which will be implemented in a phased manner from January 2026.
The biggest blow will be felt by those users who use credit cards on online gaming platforms. Now an additional fee of 2% of the total amount will have to be paid for transactions on platforms like Dream-11, MPL, Rummy Culture and Junglee Games. This charge may also be applicable on new Merchant Category Codes (MCC) to be implemented in future.
According to ICICI Bank, most of the charges will be effective from January 15, 2026, while the changes related to reward points will be implemented from February 1, 2026. ICICI Bank Credit Card Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) charge for super-premium Emerald Card holders has been increased to 2%. Along with this, no reward points will be available on government services, fuel, tax payment and rent. A fee of Rs 3,500 will also have to be paid for the new add-on card.
Apart from this, a monthly limit has been fixed on reward points. Rewards will be available only on maximum spend of Rs 20,000 on Emerald, Emerald Private, Rubix and Saphiro cards. Whereas on Coral, CSK, Expressions Platinum and other mid-range cards this limit will be Rs 10,000. 1% fee will also have to be paid for loading Rs 5,000 or more in wallets like Amazon Pay, Paytm, Freecharge, OlaMoney and MobiKwik.
