Islamabad. Jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said there is a serious threat to his life. In the party’s official statement issued after a 20-minute meeting with his sister Dr. Uzma Khan in Adiala Jail, Imran claimed that the military establishment now sees no option left but to get him killed. He clearly said, if anything happens to me then Army Chief General Asim Munir and DG ISI will be completely responsible for it.
PTI alleged that Imran Khan has been kept in complete solitary confinement, where he is being deprived of electricity, sunlight, clean water, good food and even medical facilities. The statement said that they are being kept in conditions worse than death row prisoners. Imran told that the electricity in his cell remained switched off for five days and he was not allowed to go out for ten days. He described his treatment as worse than that of animals and being kept in a cage. The former Prime Minister made a direct attack on General Asim Munir and said, he is the most cruel and mentally unstable dictator in the history of Pakistan. He termed the current system as completely undemocratic and said that they are being subjected to constant mental torture.
However, Dr. Uzma Khan told the media after the meeting that her brother is physically fit and mentally very strong. He told that Imran was definitely angry with some of the behavior of the jail administration, but his morale was high and he kept sending messages to the party workers. Uzma also said that Imran looked excited. It is noteworthy that for a long time, Imran Khan was not being allowed to meet his family and lawyers. Last week, he was allowed to meet his sister for the first time after nationwide protests and pressure from PTI. The party is considering this as its big victory, while Imran’s latest statement has created a new storm in the politics of Pakistan.
