New Delhi. The 10th edition of India-Indonesia joint special forces exercise Garuda Shakti is underway at the Special Forces Training School, Bakloh, Himachal Pradesh. This exercise will run from 3 to 12 December. Giving information on behalf of the Indian Army, it was said that the 10th edition of India-Indonesia joint special forces exercise Garuda Shakti is going on at the Special Forces Training School located in Bakloh. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability and facilitate exchange of best practices in planning and executing counter-terrorism operations in semi-mountainous areas. Key focus areas include heliborne operations, combat shooting and use of drones and C-UAS systems, which will further strengthen the strong defense partnership between India and Indonesia.
Let us tell you that the Indian military team is represented by the soldiers of the Parachute Regiment, while the Indonesian military team includes the soldiers of Indonesian Special Forces. The objective of this exercise is to strengthen mutual understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the special forces of both the countries. The exercise involved military-level tactics, techniques and procedures in a counter-terrorism environment, including unarmed combat techniques, combat firing, sniping, heliborne operations and planning of drone, counter-UAS and loiter-munition attacks in semi-mountainous terrain. This training also includes exchange of expertise and information on weapons, equipment and operational systems.
This joint training, designed to emphasize physical fitness, tactical exercises and high-intensity combat training, will culminate in a validation exercise simulating real-world operational scenarios to test the stamina, coordination and combat readiness of both the armies. This exercise is an important step towards furthering defense cooperation and further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
