Kerala government will teach AI to 6 lakh parents

Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), the technical arm of the education department of Kerala, has launched a major campaign for the adult population. The initiative has been named ‘Sarvam AI Mayam’ (AI is everywhere). It is considered to be the country’s largest Artificial Intelligence awareness program.

Under this scheme, students of ‘Little Kites’ IT Club will train six lakh parents through government schools. This program will run till June 30, 2026. 2,200 ‘Little Kites’ units of the state are engaged in this work. Each unit will train an average of 300 parents.

The training module is of two hours. In this, information about both the benefits and dangers of AI will be given. Kite CEO Anwar Sadath said the training starts with a simple introduction to machine learning. In the training, famous paintings of Raja Ravi Varma are brought alive through animation.

In the training, parents will be taught the use of AI in everyday tasks through smartphones. They will learn to create recipes from household items, identify birds and plants with the help of AI tools. Moreover, they will also learn to translate other languages into their own language. In the training, things like writing poetry, planning a trip and improving old photographs will be taught through AI.

The official further said that along with these benefits, this project also warns of the dangers of the digital world. In this, methods of identifying deepfake videos, fake photos and cloned voices will be explained. With this, people will be able to avoid online fraud and fake news. Along with this, parents will also be given information about the educational platform named Samagra Plus Learning Room. Which is an AI-based educational platform created by KITE to help their children in their studies.

According to the statement, this initiative is a continuation of the successful cyber security training given to 400,000 parents in 2023-24. Sadath said the training will cover the latest security standards, including the IT Intermediary Amendment Rules 2026, which will come into effect from February 20, 2026. The official further said that the objective of ‘Sarvam AI Mayam’ is to make citizens aware in the digital age.
