Dehradun: The closure of Chardham kapat is going to start from today. In this series, the doors of Gangotri Dham will be closed first today. The doors of Gangotri Dham are closed on the occasion of Annakoot festival. The doors of Gangotri Dham will close at 11.26 am today. For which all preparations have been made.
After the closure of the doors of Gangotri Dham, the idol of Mother Ganga will leave for winter stay in Mukhba village along with Doli Bhogmurthy, army band and local musical instruments. On the night of 22nd October, Doli will rest for the night at Markadenya temple situated about two km before Mukhba village. After that, the next day on the afternoon of 23rd October, the idol of Mother Ganga will reach Doli Mukhba village. In Mukhba village, the Bhogmurti of Mother Ganga will be installed in the temple as per the rituals for 6 months during winter. After this, for 6 months of winter season, Mother Ganga will be seen in her winter stay in Mukhba village only.

According to religious beliefs about the winter migration place of Mother Ganga, worshiping Mother Ganga brings happiness and peace in life. It is believed that those who come to this temple and pray with devotion are blessed with family happiness and prosperity. This tradition has been going on for centuries that after the doors of Gangotri are closed, Ganga Aarti and special worship is performed at Mukhba.

In 21 days of October alone, 40,227 devotees reached Yamunotri Dham. The number of pilgrims reaching Gangotri Dham also increased to 7,57,762. 53,949 devotees have reached Gangotri Dham in 21 days of October.
