New Delhi: Aravalli Hills Mining Ban The Central Government has taken a historic and strict decision regarding this. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has given clear instructions to all the concerned states for the conservation of Aravalli Hills that now no new mining lease will be issued in the Aravalli region. This ban will apply equally to the entire Aravalli mountain range extending from Gujarat to Delhi.
The government’s objective is to completely stop the long-running illegal and uncontrolled mining in the Aravalis, so that this ancient mountain range can be saved as a continuous and protected landform. The Aravalli Hills play an important role in the environmental balance of Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas. These hills control air pollution, prevent the spread of desert, recharge groundwater levels and preserve rich biodiversity.
Aravalli Hills Mining Ban To make it effective, the Central Government has also assigned important responsibilities to the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE). ICFRE will identify additional sensitive areas in the entire Aravalli region, where there will be a complete ban on mining activities. For this, scientific study will be done on the basis of ecology, geology and landscape.
However, for the mines which are already operating, instructions have been given to the state governments to strictly follow the environmental rules. Additional restrictions will be imposed as per the orders of the Supreme Court and adherence to all standards of sustainable mining will be mandatory. The government has made it clear that mining activities should not harm the environment and groundwater level under any circumstances.
