
Kolkata . Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made sharp attacks on the Central Government and the Election Commission. In an exclusive interview to a Bengali news channel, the Chief Minister made it clear that he is ready to fight from the streets to the Supreme Court for the identity of Bengal and the rights of the people. Mamata Banerjee expressed deep displeasure over the controversies related to SIR and voter list. He alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched to remove the names of about 58 lakh people of the state from the draft voter list.
This is democracy, not dictatorship
Questioning the working style of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Minister said whether a constitutional body has the right to insult women and the poor like this? This is democracy, not dictatorship. He termed it as a deep conspiracy to deprive Bengal. Mamta said that she will herself go to the Supreme Court regarding the voter list and other constitutional issues and show what is happening at the ground level. Criticizing the BJP government at the Centre, he said that it only troubles the common people. Treats Bengal step-motherly.
Praised Deve Gowda and VP Singh
During the interview, the Chief Minister of Bengal praised former Prime Ministers HD Deve Gowda, VP Singh and Rajiv Gandhi. He said that VP Singh and Rajiv Gandhi loved him a lot. I also respected both of them a lot. On the recent political turmoil in the neighboring country Bangladesh, Mamata made it clear that there will be no compromise with the security of Bengal’s borders and the interests of the state.
