Now the exercise of voter list reform in Telangana also, Election Commission said – SIR can be done in April-May

Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy has given an important information. He informed that the schedule of special correction of voter list in the state is expected to be announced during April-May 2026. He said this during a meeting held with representatives of political parties on Thursday.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that currently this reform work is going on in 12 states of the country. For Telangana and remaining states, it will be launched in 2026. Time for reforms is short, so preparation work has been started in the state from now on. He appealed to the political parties to appoint at least one Booth Level Agent (BLA) for every polling station.

Reddy advised that these agents should be residents of the same area. They will work closely with booth level officials. This will make the voter list more accurate and transparent and problems will be resolved in time. During this campaign, BLOs will visit each area three to four times. In the first instance they will distribute the forms and next time they will visit those houses which were missed earlier.

He made it clear that the voters who could not be included in the list during preparation will also be able to give their information in this process. Reddy stressed that the appointment of agents should be completed soon. This will strengthen mutual coordination, reduce complaints and no eligible voter will be left out of the list. Additional CEO Vasam Venkateswara Reddy, Deputy CEO Hari Singh and other officials were also present in this meeting.
