Rajnath Singh Statement On Babri Masjid: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday addressed the ‘Sardar Sabha’ in Vadodara on the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During this time he has given a big statement. He said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was secular in the true sense. When Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru talked about spending government money on the Babri Masjid issue, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel opposed it. At that time he did not allow Babri Masjid to be built with government money.
Rajnath Singh said, “Nehru ji raised the question of reconstruction of Somnath temple. So Sardar Patel made it clear that the case of Somnath temple was different. There the public had donated Rs 30 lakh, a trust was formed, and not even a single penny of government money was used. The construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya has not been done with government money. Its entire expense has been borne by the people of this country.”
Taking aim at the Congress, he said, “The Congress government of that time tried to suppress the great legacy of Sardar Patel at all costs. Nehru ji awarded ‘Bharat Ratna’ to himself, but did not build any memorial for Sardar Patel. By building the Statue of Unity, PM Modi gave Sardar Patel the respect he truly deserved.”
