Porbandar (Gujarat): The Coast Guard, which guards India’s maritime borders, has once again foiled Pakistani infiltration. Indian Coast Guard has arrested 9 Pakistani nationals along with a Pakistani boat in Gujarat Sea.
Indian Coast Guard gave this information on social media. According to the information given by the Coast Guard, on the night of 14 January 2026, an Indian Coast Guard ship was patrolling in the Arabian Sea. Meanwhile, a Pakistani fishing boat was sighted in Indian waters. When challenged by the Coast Guard, the boat attempted to escape towards Pakistan. However, the Coast Guard ship stopped the boat in Indian waters.
Nine crew members from this Pakistani boat named Al-Madina have been arrested. All the captured Pakistani nationals are being taken to Porbandar by a Coast Guard ship along with a Pakistani boat, where a thorough investigation and joint interrogation will be conducted by the concerned agencies.
Incidents of Pakistani boats being caught in the waters of Gujarat are frequent. Earlier in August 2025, a team of Border Security Force (BSF) with the help of Coast Guard had arrested 15 Pakistani fishermen. Officials said that these fishermen had illegally crossed the international maritime border and entered Indian waters in Kutch district of Gujarat.
11 Pakistanis were detained
In December last year also, the Indian Coast Guard had detained a Pakistani fishing boat inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and detained all its 11 crew members. According to officials, the boat was operating illegally in Indian waters. They were later handed over to Jakhau Marine Police in Gujarat for further investigation.
Tension has remained high between India and Pakistan since Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam last year, in which 26 people, most of whom were tourists, lost their lives. Since then, the Indian Army has been on alert along India’s land and maritime borders with Pakistan.
Recently, some drones were also seen on the Line of Control (LoC) in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, after which a meeting was held between the Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both sides. Later, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi warned Pakistan that it would have to face consequences if it tried to do any wrong. India’s top leadership has also said that Operation Sindoor has been stopped for now and it can be restarted if needed.
