New Delhi. The experience of buying liquor is going to change in the capital Delhi from next year. The committee constituted by the government under the chairmanship of Minister Pravesh Verma has sent its draft regarding the new liquor policy to the Chief Minister’s Office for approval. According to the draft, liquor shops in Delhi will not run in hybrid mode.
They will not be given license
Private players in Delhi will not be given licenses for liquor retail shops. Only four existing agencies of the government will sell liquor. If official sources are to be believed, there has been no change in the age for purchasing liquor. But, emphasis has been laid on modernizing the liquor shops.
Number of shops will be increased in Delhi
The government has decided that the number of premium liquor shops will be increased in Delhi. A minimum standard of premium shops will be fixed. Apart from this, it has been proposed to open shops in malls, shopping complexes, metro station premises and other places.
This facility will be available at liquor shops
Just as people buy goods of their choice in malls etc., similarly facilities will be available at liquor shops also. There are currently more than 794 liquor outlets opened by the government in Delhi, which are run by DSIIDC, DTTDC, DSCSC and DCCWS.
