Mumbai An international kidney smuggling racket spread between India and Cambodia has been sensationally exposed, which started with a video of a farmer going viral on social media. The vigilance of Chandrapur Police of Maharashtra has exposed a death network whose links are now connected from Delhi to Trichy in Tamil Nadu. Not only vicious middlemen but also doctors from reputed medical institutions have been found involved in this black business. The main leader of the gang, Krishna, used to visit big hospitals of the country and identify rich patients who were in urgent need of a kidney, while through social media he used to trap the financially weak and helpless people.
During investigation, the police found that some doctors were also involved in this racket. It is alleged that these professional doctors, being a part of this human tragedy, used to charge a huge amount of Rs 50 to 80 lakh from needy patients in exchange for a kidney. At the same time, poor donors who donated organs due to their compulsion were given only Rs 5 to 8 lakh. A large portion of the middle portion went into the pockets of kingpin Krishna and these corrupt doctors. Chandrapur Police is now investigating for how many years this network was active between India and Cambodia and how many innocent people have fallen victim to this influence and greed till now.
