Doda, January 22, 2026 – A major road accident took place in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, when a military vehicle loaded with soldiers fell into a ditch. This accident took place in Khannitop area, where the vehicle lost control and fell into a deep gorge. According to preliminary information, 10 soldiers have died in this accident, while a total of 17 soldiers were traveling in the vehicle.
Rescue operation going on at the spot
As soon as information about the accident was received, a joint team of army and police reached the spot and the rescue operation was started. The injured have been taken out of the ditch and sent to the nearest hospital, where their treatment is ongoing. Teams of local administration and security forces are engaged in relief and rescue work.
Investigation into the causes of the accident
At present the reasons for the accident are not known. Initially, there is a possibility of the road condition and the vehicle being out of control. Officials said a detailed investigation into the incident is being conducted and further information will be shared soon.
