Mumbai: On Monday evening, a prayer meeting was held at Jalaram Hall in Juhu, Mumbai which left everyone’s eyes moist. It was a moment to remember the uncrowned king of laughter, veteran cinema and television actor Satish Shah. He died on October 25 due to kidney failure and now the film industry, friends and family bid him farewell through music.
Tribute paid through music
The prayer meet started with silence, but after some time the atmosphere was filled with music. Sonu Nigam made everyone emotional in the memory of Satish Shah by singing the famous song ‘Tere Mere Sapne Ab Ek Rang Hain’ from the film Guide. Sonu Nigam sang this song sitting in front of Satish Shah’s wife Madhu Shah. Deep respect was visible on Sonu’s face in the video. When he extended the mike towards Madhu, she could not say anything – she was left with just one word. Seeing this moment, everyone sitting in the hall had tears in their eyes.
Satish Shah wanted to live for wife Madhu Shah
Satish Shah always shared a strong bond with his life partner Madhu. Madhu has been suffering from a serious disease like Alzheimer’s for the last few years. It is said that for this reason, Satish paid attention to his health and got a kidney transplant done so that he could take care of his wife for a long time. But fate did not give him this opportunity.
Presence of industry giants
Many big names of Hindi cinema and TV world attended this prayer meeting – Rakesh Roshan, David Dhawan, Shatrughan Sinha, Johnny Lever, Padmini Kolhapuri, Poonam Dhillon, Bhuvan Bam and many producers-directors participated. There was sadness on everyone’s face and respect for Satish Shah in their eyes.
The team of ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ together once again
Another emotional highlight of the occasion was seen when the entire team of ‘Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai’ – Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghavan, Rajesh Kumar and producer Jamnadas Majithia sang the title track of the show together. This was the same song which had once made Satish Shah the ‘Indravadan Sarabhai’ of every household.
