In this note, Samay wrote, ‘Today is my birthday and instead of just celebrating my birthday, I celebrate this day which is the most special day of the year for me. Want to use it to apologize to disabled people.

Time was a victim of criticism
At that time Raina was embroiled in controversies due to his show ‘India’s Got Latent’. Samay had faced criticism for comments he made on people with disabilities, especially when he mentioned a charity campaign for a child who needed an expensive injection. Viral clips from the show led to widespread backlash and demands for accountability. Now Raina posted an apology and expressed regret.

The case of the controversy in ‘India’s Got Latent’ had reached the Supreme Court. Which led to Samay and four more people being directed to make an unconditional public apology for the obscene jokes. The court also asked the government to frame guidelines to control objectionable content, especially that targeting vulnerable groups like persons with disabilities, women, children and senior citizens.
