Tamil Nadu’s politics heated up, PM J. Remembered Jayalalitha

Chennai|The stir has once again intensified in the politics of Tamil Nadu. Expelled AIADMK leader VK Sasikala has said that good news will come on Amma’s birthday. His statement has given rise to speculations about a new political party. The signals given during the program on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister J Jayalalitha are being linked to her possible return. Sasikala said while talking to the media that good news will be received in the program organized on Amma’s birthday. He earlier paid floral tributes to AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran and Jayalalitha. His statement is being considered as a prelude to a new political announcement. Since her expulsion from the party, she has been searching for a place to return.

Hints to form a new party

There is talk in political circles that Sasikala may form a new party before the 2026 assembly elections. Recently he held a meeting with supporters in Chennai. Arasan, who is close to him, said that he will stand by Chinnamma in every decision. Supporters claim that Sasikala will again play an active role in politics.

Expulsion and political background

Sasikala was once considered the working general secretary of AIADMK and close to Jayalalitha. He was thrown out of the party after being convicted in the disproportionate assets case. Now he is again trying to strengthen his political ground. His target is said to be the 2026 elections. Elections for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly are to be held in 2026. Currently the coalition led by MK Stalin is in power. BJP and AIADMK alliance is also busy in election preparations. With actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party TVK entering the fray, the contest could become triangular. In 2021, DMK won 133 seats, while AIADMK got 66 seats.
