Jammu KashmirSearch operations are underway to trace terrorists in the upper areas of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir. For the third day on Tuesday, security forces detained many people for questioning. The campaign was started on Sunday in Sonar village near Mandral-Singhpura in Chatru area. Meanwhile, one paratrooper was martyred in the encounter and 7 others were injured in a sudden grenade attack by the hidden terrorists. The terrorists fled into the dense forest, but their hideout containing a large quantity of winter items including food items, blankets and utensils has been busted.

The materials recovered from the demolished hideout reveal the terrorists’ planning for winter survival. 50 packets of Maggi, fresh vegetables like tomatoes and potatoes, 15 types of spices, 20 kg Basmati rice, grains, cooking gas and dry wood were found from here. Several persons were detained for questioning on Monday afternoon in connection with the busting of the secret hideout located at an altitude of more than 12,000 feet, officials said. Security forces are trying to identify the facilitators of the terrorists who helped them collect large quantities of ration, pulses, utensils and other essential materials. These ingredients were enough for at least 4 people during the winter months.
There is a possibility of hiding of 2-3 terrorists
The White Knight Corps of the Army posted on Twitter that Operation Trashi-1 is going on in Chatru. “The cordon has been tightened and the scope of the search operation has been expanded,” the army said. It is believed that a group of two to three terrorists allegedly associated with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed are in the area. Jammu Zone Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti and Jammu Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) R. Senior officers including Gopal Krishna Rao also reached the encounter site. He is currently camping there along with several army officers to monitor the operation. Meanwhile, a program was organized in Jammu to pay tribute to martyred Special Forces commando Havildar Gajendra Singh. Officials said the program at Satwari to pay tribute to the martyred commando was led by Brigadier Yudhveer Singh Sekhon, acting Chief of Staff of the White Knight Corps. Later, the mortal remains of the martyred commando were taken to his home area Uttarakhand for the last rites.
