Prakasam: A story of nature’s charisma and human sensibility has come to light from India’s southern state of Andhra Pradesh, which can bring tears to anyone’s eyes. The mother, whom her son was considering dead and was preparing for her last rites, suddenly came back ‘alive’ after two and a half years. This story may sound like a film script, but it has come to light as a reality in Prakasam district.
L of Prakasam district. Venkatalakshmi, a resident of Kota village, was mentally unwell. About two and a half years ago, when her family took her to a hospital in Guntur for treatment, she suddenly went missing from there. The family members searched for him everywhere, but no trace of him was found. The sad thing is that after three days of separation from his wife, her husband also died. Time passed and the family’s hopes faded.
After a long time of two and a half years, when there was no trace of Venkatalakshmi, the family considered her dead as per Hindu customs. Preparations for his last rites (Pind Daan/Shraddha) were going on at home. Then suddenly a call came from Annam Seva Ashram of Khammam. The news received on the phone shocked the entire family. Told from the front – Your mother is alive and safe with us.
Venkatalakshmi was found wandering on the streets in July 2023 by Khammam Police, after which she was admitted to Seva Ashram. Ashram director Annam Srinivas Rao said that after long treatment and care, his mental condition improved. As soon as he recovered, he gave information about his village and son Gurvaiya. When the son reached Gurvaiya Ashram, he started crying bitterly after seeing his mother alive.
The pain of two and a half years and the sorrow of separation came out through tears. The organizers of the ashram honored the family and handed over Venkatalakshmi to her son. This incident teaches us that service and dedication never goes in vain. It is because of institutions like Annam Seva Ashram that today a son could meet his mother and the happiness of a home has returned. The house which was preparing for mourning till yesterday, has an atmosphere of celebration today.
