According to media reports, the voice heard in the leaked recording is said to be that of Venezuela’s current acting President Delsey Rodriguez. In this conversation of about six minutes, she is referring to the dreadful scene when immediately after the arrest of Maduro, the US forces gave her and other top cabinet ministers only 15 minutes.
The layers of what was going on in the corridors of power on that fateful night of January 3, when Maduro was taken from his country to America on the instructions of US President Donald Trump, are now being revealed through a leaked audio. This audio testifies that Venezuela’s command was shaken that night and top leaders were forced to take decisions under threat of death.

The ultimatum was clear—either accept Washington’s terms or prepare for death. This audio has raised a big question whether this was merely a legal action or a pre-planned coup based on fear and blackmail. In the audio, Rodriguez is heard saying that the threats started from the very first minute. According to him, American soldiers even spread lies that Maduro was not only arrested but also killed. Hearing this, many senior leaders including Home Minister Diosdado Cabello were horrified and were ready to face any consequences. The fear, confusion and helplessness spread among the people at the top of power can be clearly felt in the recording.
However, another aspect of this development is even more shocking. It is being claimed in the international media that Delsey Rodriguez was in secret talks with American officials since November 2025. At the same time, the then US President Donald Trump had publicly warned Maduro to leave power. According to reports, Rodriguez had reportedly already indicated that Maduro’s departure was certain and that he was ready to work with the US to stop the chaos. At the time of Maduro’s arrest, many rumors were spread. First it was said that Rodriguez had fled to Moscow, then news of her being on Margarita Island came. She finally returned to Caracas on January 5 and took the oath of office as acting president. His brother Jorge Rodriguez was also given an important position in the new system. Experts believe that all this was part of the transition framework, the script of which had been written months in advance. Maduro is currently in US custody and facing trial on serious charges, but the deal struck that night in Venezuela’s regime has sparked serious debate over democratic processes and international sovereignty.
