
Every Indian fan’s eyes became moist at the 79th British Academy Film Awards i.e. BAFTA when tribute was paid to the late veteran actor Dharmendra. The Indian actor was included among the great personalities of global cinema who are no longer with us. The program paid tribute to those celebrities who left this world last year. In this, Indian actor Dharmendra was also remembered in BAFTA. Last night, an emotional tribute was paid remembering Dharmendra in the 79th edition of BAFTA held at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Jessie Ware came on stage and performed Barbra Streisand’s song ‘The Way We Were’, where she paid tribute to the film industry personalities who passed away last year. The emotional musical tribute was accompanied by a video remembering the celebrities the world has lost over the past year. The ‘In Memoriam’ category paid tribute to celebrities like Diane Keaton, Terrence Stamp, Catherine O’Hara, Rob Reiner, Gene Hackman, Robert Duvall, Tom Stoppard, Brigitte Bardot, Lao Shiffrin, Michael Madsen and Val Kilmer. Meanwhile, veteran Indian actor Dharmendra was also mentioned in the tribute.
Dharmendra died on 24 November last year
Dharmendra died on November 24 last year at his residence in Mumbai. He said goodbye to this world at the age of 89. Following health issues, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Where after being admitted for almost a week, the family decided to get him treated at home. Where he died on 24 November. His last rites were performed in Mumbai on 25 November. The veteran actor leaves behind two wives, Prakash Kaur and actress Hema Malini, along with six children. These include actors Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Esha Deol.
