Washington. US President Donald Trump has invited Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi to visit America in a phone conversation on Friday. Giving information, Japan’s Foreign Ministry said that this will be Takaichi’s first visit to America after assuming office in October.
According to media reports, the White House has not yet confirmed this conversation and invitation. This development is happening at a time when relations between Japan and China are tense and tensions are increasing in the region. Along with strengthening its relations with Japan, the US is also trying to stabilize its relations with Beijing ahead of Trump’s possible visit to China in April. America is considered a close ally of Japan.
According to reports, Beijing conducted a two-day military exercise in Taiwan’s coastal waters this week. In a statement issued on Friday, Japan’s Foreign Ministry said that Takaichi and Trump have agreed to coordinate to make the proposed visit possible this year. Japan’s news agency indicated that Takaichi’s visit to the US could coincide with the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington.
