Washington. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly offered to meet Kim Jong-un. If this meeting happens, it will be their first meeting in more than six years. Amid US President Trump’s proposals, North Korea tested sea-to-surface tactical cruise missiles in the Yellow Sea. Analysts and experts viewed the cruise missile test as Trump’s rejection of the proposal. Kyungnam University professor Lim Yul-chul said this confirmed Kim’s rejection of Trump’s firm meeting proposals. Professor Lim Yul-chul believes that the possibility of a US-North Korea meeting has diminished, although as long as Trump is in the Korean Peninsula, it may remain a possibility with very little hope. Kim had earlier said that North Korea was ready for talks with the US if Washington dropped demands for denuclearization. He also said that he is not going to engage in any kind of transactional talks to ease the restrictions. Experts estimate that North Korea may be waiting for Washington to offer a major agreement, such as suspending joint military exercises with South Korea, before starting talks. North Korea conducted this missile test just hours before President Trump arrived in South Korea, where he was scheduled to participate in Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APA) events. Trump is on a visit to South Korea from Wednesday to Thursday. Till Wednesday morning, North Korea’s state media had maintained silence regarding the meeting with Kim.
