Washington. US President Donald Trump is on a tour of Asia these days. Then the game was played against them in America. In fact, the US Senate has passed a bill that challenges their tariffs (import duties) imposed on Brazil. This bill is related to ending the national emergency that Trump had declared against Brazil in July this year by 2025. This bill was passed by the Republican majority Senate. This proposal passed in the Senate by 52-48 votes, in which 5 senators from Trump’s own Republican Party also voted against him.
Let us tell you that the Trump administration had imposed heavy import taxes on Brazil and accused it of becoming a threat to American national security, foreign policy and economy. Another reason cited was Brazil’s political persecution of its former President Jair Bolsonaro. Brazil says that America has had a trade surplus of 410 billion dollars in the last 15 years, which means America has not suffered any loss but has benefited. Now this proposal will go to the US House of Representatives. It is unlikely to pass because of the Republican majority in the House of Representatives, as House Republicans have previously blocked resolutions challenging Trump’s trade policies. A proposal to end Trump’s tariffs on Canada and review global tariffs imposed on other countries is also to be presented in the Senate this week. Opposition lawmakers accused Trump of turning his trade policy into a political weapon by using false emergency orders. They argue that because of these tariffs the burden of inflation on American consumers is increasing.
