Zomato-Swiggy Workers: There is good news for people doing online food delivery before the New Year. Delivery workers and gig workers had announced to stop work and go on strike on December 31, after which Zomato and Swiggy have made a big announcement regarding their employees. If the delivery workers had continued their strike, there was a possibility of huge loss to the company. Because a large quantity of food will be delivered across the country today on New Year’s Eve.
This announcement by the companies will provide a lot of relief to the delivery workers. According to the report, both the companies have hurriedly offered higher payments to the gig workers. This has been done only so that there is no hindrance regarding the order on New Year. This is a standard practice of the company during festival times. When the delivery workers made the announcement, the company felt that this could affect its operations. So, expressing concern, he found a middle path.
What did Zomato announce?
Delivery company Zomato has announced to pay around Rs 120 to Rs 150 per order to the delivery partners on New Year’s Eve between 6 pm to 12 am i.e. during peak hours. According to sources, Zomato has promised to earn up to Rs 3000 a day. However, this will depend on the order and availability of workers. Not only this, charges were levied on order cancellation. That too has been forgiven.
Swiggy also announced
Swiggy has also announced to increase incentives for delivery workers. While Zomato has promised to earn up to Rs 3,000, Swiggy has given an open offer to workers to earn up to Rs 10,000 between the night of 31st December to 1st January, 2026. At the same time, additional earning of Rs 2,000 has also been added during peak time from 6 pm to midnight. So that the orders can be delivered safely even during busy times.
