Andhra Pradesh, India: Prof. Dr. Mamidanna Sreedhar, a distinguished scientist and academician originally from Andhra Pradesh, has returned to India permanently after an illustrious research career spanning the United States and Canada. With decades of global experience, Prof. Dr. Sreedhar continues to make significant contributions to Indian academia, research, and higher education.

Over the years, Prof. Dr. Sreedhar has played a pivotal role in strengthening academic research by establishing multiple research centers through grants received from various national and international funding agencies, including the Government of India. His interdisciplinary academic footprint is reflected in his authorship of numerous research books across diverse domains such as psychology, medicine, engineering, human rights, computer science, and biology.

His exceptional contributions have earned him several prestigious national and international honors. Among them is the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Award, conferred by the Governor of West Bengal. He has also been felicitated by two Chief Ministers in Nepal in recognition of his outstanding academic and research achievements.

Adding another milestone to his academic legacy, Prof. Dr. Mamidanna Sreedhar has recently authored and published a new medical textbook titled “Clinical Anatomy and Functional Physiology.” Speaking to a special correspondent, he explained that the book is designed to provide an integrated examination of human body structure and function, catering specifically to students of medicine, nursing, and allied health professions.

The textbook follows a systems-based approach across five comprehensive chapters. It begins with foundational concepts, including the scope of clinical anatomy, levels of structural organization, principles of functional physiology, and the critical concept of homeostasis. The book also introduces essential anatomical terminology and clinical assessment methods, equipping students with the tools needed for practical and academic excellence.

Subsequent chapters delve deeply into the musculoskeletal system, integrating bone biology, joint mechanics, muscle physiology, and biomechanics, along with clinical insights into common conditions such as fractures, sprains, and degenerative disorders. The nervous system is examined as the body’s primary control and integration mechanism, covering neuroanatomy, synaptic physiology, sensory and motor pathways, autonomic regulation, higher cognitive functions, and relevant neurological examination techniques.
