A day before this, Mamata Banerjee had congratulated Tariq Rehman on his election victory by addressing him as ‘Tariq Bhai’ on the social media platform X. In his message, he extended best wishes to the people of Bangladesh and also congratulated them for advance Ramadan. Mamata Banerjee wrote that this victory is a victory for democratic values and will give a new direction to regional cooperation.
Political analysts believe that this step of Mamata Banerjee is not just a formal congratulation, but a positive sign towards strengthening the cultural, historical and geographical relations between India and Bangladesh.
