New Delhi. In view of the possible terrorist threat in the national capital (Delhi), security agencies have put the city on high alert. Based on intelligence inputs, police and other agencies have increased surveillance in sensitive areas and security at major religious and historical sites has been specially strengthened.
Crowded areas are potential targets.
According to sources, Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba may be planning an attack in the capital. Intelligence reports point to busy markets and prominent sites in Old Delhi as possible targets. Among these, the area around Red Fort and Chandni Chowk are considered especially sensitive. The security of religious places like Gauri Shankar Temple located in the same area has also been increased, where additional forces have been deployed.
Investigation of ‘revenge’ angle
Intelligence agencies are also investigating the possibility that the conspiracy may be linked to alleged “revenge” considerations after a recent blast in Islamabad. Many people lost their lives in that incident. However, India has completely rejected such allegations or hints and linked them to the internal situation of Pakistan.
Fear of IED attack, indications were found earlier also
Sources reveal that even before Republic Day, some suspicious inputs were received, the investigation of which was ongoing. Now new information has revealed the possibility of use of Improvised Explosive Device (IED). In view of this, security arrangements have been made more stringent as a precautionary measure.
Security agencies in alert mode
Delhi Police and central agencies together are continuously monitoring sensitive places.
Real-time monitoring from CCTV cameras
Intensive checking at markets and entry points
Deploying bomb disposal squad and dog squad
Quick reaction teams kept on standby
Additional police forces in crowded areas
Precaution, no need to panic
Officials say that all the steps taken are purely precautionary. People have been appealed to remain alert, but do not pay attention to rumors and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. Security agencies are constantly monitoring the situation so that peace and normal life in the capital is not affected.
