Senior party leader and Deputy Chief Minister of the state Sunetra Pawar has been unanimously elected as the National President of NCP. This decision taken in the party meeting is considered important in the politics of the state. After the death of Ajit Pawar in the plane crash, there was a big change in the responsibilities of both the party and the government.
After the death of Ajit Pawar, the politics of Maharashtra suddenly took a new turn. The responsibility of the post of Deputy Chief Minister was handed over to Sunetra Pawar and now she has also got the national command of the party. For the last few days, there was talk of possible merger of the two factions of NCP, but senior leaders of Ajit Pawar faction did not show much interest in it. After this, the party decided new leadership to strengthen the organization and it was decided to make Sunetra Pawar the national president.
Unanimous decision in Mumbai session
NCP’s National Convention 2026 was held in Worli area of Mumbai, in which all the big leaders and officials of the party attended. During the convention, a proposal was made to make Sunetra Pawar the national president. This proposal was unanimously approved by all the leaders. Party leader Praful Patel formally announced his name. It was also decided that Praful Patel will be the working president of the party, while MP Sunil Tatkare will take over the responsibility of Maharashtra state president.
Discussion on becoming MLA from Baramati intensifies
Discussion has also intensified in political circles that Sunetra Pawar may soon contest the by-election from Baramati assembly seat. This seat has been considered the political identity of Ajit Pawar. If there is a by-election, then MP Supriya Sule has expressed hope that this election can also be unopposed. In such a situation, there is a possibility that in the coming time, Sunetra Pawar may reach the assembly and play a stronger role in the politics of the state.
