New Delhi. After the arrival of new youth president Nitin Nabin in BJP, preparations have started to give place to young and new leadership in the organization. Preference will be given to leaders below 60 years of age at the General Secretaries and Secretaries level, while experienced senior leaders are likely to be retained at the Vice President level. According to sources, there is a possibility of change in more than half of the office bearers in the national organization and many new faces will be included in the central organization from different states.
Young faces in new leadership
In an effort to prepare the BJP of the future, there is a plan to include about 60 percent new faces in about 40 national office bearers including the President. The age limit at the General Secretary and Secretary level will be kept around 60 years, but some flexibility will be kept at the Vice President level so that experienced leaders can be included in the organization. More than half of the office-bearers of the current team are likely to change, while general secretaries and secretaries above 60 years of age may be given new roles.
Structure of posts and participation of women
Apart from the President, the national office bearers of BJP include 13 Vice Presidents, 10 General Secretaries, 15 Secretaries and one Treasurer. According to sources, efforts will be made to increase the number of women in the new team. The party’s constitution requires one-third women office-bearers, but this was possible only during Rajnath Singh’s tenure. In the new team, all parts of the country will be represented and caste and social equations will also be balanced.
Process and timing on changeover
Preparations have started for the new BJP team, but its official announcement may take some time. Since the changes will be on a wide scale, discussions and deliberations are yet to take place at many levels. Due to the party’s focus being on the Parliament session and the upcoming elections, the change process will be implemented in a phased manner.
