
BadlapurMaharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam on Wednesday said flying squads will be formed to monitor IVF and ART centers in the state to prevent wrongdoings. This step has been taken after the case of female egg smuggling in Badlapur of Thane district. In this racket, poor women were lured for money. The police and health department team raided and seized medicines worth Rs 10 lakh, injections for pregnancy, sonography reports, and affidavits prepared in fake names. Four women and two men have been named as accused in the investigation, and statements of six victims have been recorded. In future, women’s registration at IVF centers will be linked to their Aadhaar, and a committee including women representatives will be formed at the district level.
‘Chakka Jam’ of transporters, rickshaws and taxis will also be included in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra Transport Action Committee (M-TAC) said that in the absence of any concrete decision from the state government on the e-challan issue, a statewide chakka jam will be observed from March 5. The demonstration will take place at Azad Maidan in Mumbai at 11 am and protests will also be held outside RTO offices in every district. The issue concerns around 15 lakh transport operators and lakhs of private vehicle owners, involving fines worth Rs 4500 crore. Auto rickshaw, taxi, bus and truck operators will participate in the chakka jam.
Fire breaks out in auto garage complex in Thane, six vehicles burnt to ashes
Six four-wheelers, including two scrap vehicles, were gutted in a fire at an auto garage complex in Maharashtra’s Thane city in the early hours of Thursday. Yasin Tadvi of Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation said that no one was injured in the fire that broke out at around 1 am in the open space of Achyutananda Auto Garage in Wagle Estate area. Tadvi said six four-wheelers parked on the premises caught fire, including a scrapped mini truck and an Ambassador car along with some discarded items. He said that fire brigade personnel with the help of Disaster Management Cell staff brought the fire under control by around 1.50 am. The official further said that further investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
Bus hits parked truck in Beed district, 13 injured including driver and conductor
A road accident occurred in Beed district of Maharashtra on Thursday morning. A Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus hit a truck parked on the roadside near Kaij city. A total of 13 people including the driver and conductor were injured in this accident. Six women are also among the injured. Police said that the accident happened on Kaij-Kallam Road at around 6 am. The bus was going from Kolhapur towards Majalgaon. On the way, it collided with a truck parked on the roadside. Bus driver Anand Gayke (40) and conductor Vishnu Tambde (42) also suffered injuries in the accident. Cage Police Station Inspector Swapnil Unavane and his team reached the spot and started rescue operations. With the help of an ambulance, the police immediately took all the victims to the government hospital in Kaij. After first aid, all the injured were referred to Swami Ramanand Teerth Medical College of Ambajogai city for better treatment. Hospital sources have informed that at present the condition of all the injured is stable. Police have registered a case in this matter. Officials are now investigating the cause of the accident. Police are trying to find out whether this accident happened due to low light or due to someone’s negligence.
