Referring to the Shimla Agreement of 1971, he said that 93 thousand Pakistani prisoners of war were released, but why was Pakistan Occupied Kashmir not taken back? He also said that in 1954, Nehru had given up India’s rights in Tibet, which was another major agreement. What did Rahul Gandhi say?
Rahul Gandhi had fiercely targeted the government in the ‘Kisan Mahachoupal’ organized by the Congress at Jawahar Chowk in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, in protest against the trade agreement between India and America. Rahul Gandhi had alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi compromised the interests of the country’s farmers through an international agreement. He said the agreement was stalled for four months and talks on agriculture-related issues had come to a standstill. Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Prime Minister did not discuss anything with the concerned ministers during this period and took the decision suddenly. Rahul Gandhi said that the government did not want big American companies to sell agricultural products like soya, cotton and maize in India, because it could cause loss to Indian farmers. According to him, the talks were stalled for four months, but after his speech, the Prime Minister called the then US President Donald Trump and agreed to the agreement without discussing it with the Cabinet. Targeting the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi said that Narendra Modi weakened the farmers of the country and even gave out their data. He alleged that the textile industry has also been affected by the government’s policies.
