Deputation in 4 central agencies including NSG-NIA now for 7 years

New DelhiThe Union Home Ministry has extended the period of deputation in four agencies including the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Now the personnel coming on deputation in these agencies will remain posted for seven years instead of five years. The remaining two agencies include Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The above instructions have been issued by Police 2 Division (Personnel-Policy Section) in the Union Home Ministry on March 5. Let us tell you that NSG had requested the Home Ministry to increase the tenure of personnel coming on deputation in central agencies from five years to seven years. Consultations were held with central paramilitary forces ‘CAPF’ and Assam Rifles ‘AR’ regarding this matter. It was revealed that increasing the deputation period will help in maintaining the institutional knowledge of the personnel in NSG. Similar feedback has been received regarding other agencies. In view of this, it was decided that ‘CAPF’ and ‘AR’ personnel will be deputed to the four central agencies including NSG for a period of seven years at the time of initial appointment. For this, amendments have been made by the Ministry in the policy guidelines dated 22 November 2016. Changes have been made in certain provisions under the heading ‘Period of deputation’ in paragraph 3(b)(2). The deputation period for specialized jobs like Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and NSG has now been reduced to seven years. This period will be applicable from the time of entering the said agencies. These organizations need to take considerable advance steps to appoint a suitable replacement. These orders have been issued with the approval of the Union Home Minister.
