Imran supporters occupy Attock Bridge demanding release, Munir sent army

Islamabad. The situation in Pakistan has gone out of control due to the demand for the release of former Pakistan PM Imran Khan. Thousands of supporters of Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday captured the strategic and important Attock Bridge in Khyber province. Vehicles got stuck due to the gathering of Imran supporters on both sides of the bridge.
According to media reports, seeing the attitude of PTI, Pak Army Chief Asim Munir dispatched about 5 thousand soldiers from Islamabad, Peshawar and Rawalpindi Cantt. On the other hand, Khyber CM Suhail Afridi has announced to form Imran Release Force of youth for his release. Tahafuz Party (TTP) has also announced a march to Islamabad in support of Imran.
Khyber province has been cut off from Pakistan due to the capture of Attock Bridge by Imran supporters. This created chaos in Pakistan. In a hurry, Munir had to take the decision of sending the army. Let us tell you that former PM Imran Khan is lodged in Adiala Jail of Islamabad since August 2023. Currently he is serving 14 years of jail in the Toshakhana corruption case. Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi is also serving her sentence in Adiala jail. There are more than one hundred cases registered against Imran. Out of these, about a dozen cases are going on in the Lower High Court.
According to the report, Army Chief Munir has a big role in keeping Imran in jail. While being PM, Imran had removed Munir from the post of intelligence agency ISI Chief. According to experts, even though Imran’s jail is locked by Munir, its key is with US President Donald Trump. Even after the Free Imran Movement at the international level, Trump is in no mood to put pressure on Munir for his release.
