Surat. In Gujarat’s industrial city Surat, a family feud over division of property turned so violent that a young son painfully murdered his own birth mother and younger brother by stabbing them with a knife. This sensational incident took place at Sahajanand Society located in Limbayat area at around 7.30 am on Sunday morning. The double murder created a stir in the entire area. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot, took immediate action and arrested the accused within a few hours of the incident. According to the police, the victim’s family, originally from Telangana, was residing in Surat for the last several years.
The dispute regarding the rent of three shops was going on for a long time
According to the information received from the police, there was a continuous tussle in this family for the last two years regarding ownership of property and distribution of income. An old woman named Malleshwari owned three shops, from which she earned a regular rent of about Rs 60 thousand per month. Malleswari lived with her youngest son Raju and handed over the entire rent received from the shops for his maintenance and care, due to which the elder son was extremely dissatisfied.
Angered by mother’s decision, elder son committed a bloody crime
Malleshwari’s elder son Srinivas was strongly against this arrangement. His demand was that the three shops and the rent coming from them should be divided equally between him, Raju and the third brother Ramesh. However, the mother had flatly refused to divide the property at the moment and had made arrangements that the rent would be paid only to the son with whom she would live. Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanan Desai said that 40-year-old Srinivas, enraged by his mother’s decision, entered the house on Sunday morning and attacked his mother and younger brother with a sharp knife, killing both of them on the spot. Police have arrested the accused and registered a criminal case of murder and intensive investigation is underway.
