Kupwara. Security forces have achieved a major success near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jumagund area of Keran sector in the early hours of Saturday. The security forces had noticed some suspicious activities in the area, after which this action was initiated. At present, the search operation of security forces is going on in the area.
Encounter and action in Keran sector
Indian Army soldiers were alerted at around 3:30 am on Saturday morning, sensing suspicious activities near the LoC in Jumagund area. When stopped by the security forces, the terrorists started firing, after which the soldiers also retaliated. Two terrorists were killed in this encounter. According to officials, it is not yet clear whether these suspects were planning to infiltrate into the Indian border or not, but as a precautionary measure, a massive search operation is being conducted in the entire area to trace any other hiding terrorist.
Vigil has been increased in Poonch also
It is noteworthy that in this month of October, the security agencies around the LoC are very alert and ready. Earlier on October 12, a suspicious blast incident was reported near Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district, while in Basoni area of Mendhar sector, the Army found two old landmines near the border fence, which were safely destroyed by Army experts through controlled explosion. Due to this alertness of the security forces, every conspiracy taking place from across the border is being foiled.
