Adobe “Agentic Creativity”: New Firefly AI Assistant Orchestrates Entire Creative Suite

SAN JOSE, CA – On April 15, 2026, Adobe officially unveiled the Firefly AI Assistant, a central “creative agent” designed to manage complex, multi-step workflows across the entire Creative Cloud ecosystem. This marks Adobe’s definitive shift from providing individual AI features to establishing an “agentic” system that can plan, execute, and refine projects across multiple apps from a single conversational interface.

Adobe “Agentic Creativity”: New Firefly AI Assistant Orchestrates Entire Creative Suite

The Firefly AI Assistant acts as an orchestration layer, allowing creators to focus on high-level direction while the AI handles the technical “heavy lifting” across Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and more

What is “Agentic Creativity”?

Traditionally, AI in creative tools has been “point-and-click”—you select a tool and ask it to perform one specific task (like Generative Fill). Agentic Creativity flips this script: the assistant understands the ultimate goal and automatically sequences the necessary steps across different software.

“We are moving into an era where your perspective and taste are the most powerful instruments,” said David Wadhwani, President of Adobe’s Creative Business. “The assistant handles the orchestration; you provide the vision.”

Core Features of the Firefly AI Assistant

  • Cross-App Orchestration: A single prompt can trigger actions across the suite. For example, asking to “create a social media campaign from this video” might lead the assistant to pull a frame into Photoshop for a thumbnail, generate a vector logo in Illustrator, and format a caption in Express.

  • Personalized “Creative Memory”: The assistant learns your specific aesthetic preferences, frequently used brand assets, and preferred tool settings over time to ensure consistent output.

  • Precision Flow & AI Markup: Two new precision tools allow for granular control. Precision Flow uses an intuitive slider to explore variations of an image, while AI Markup lets users draw directly on an image to “guide” where the AI should place objects or adjust lighting.

  • Unified Conversational Interface: Creators no longer need to hunt through menus. The assistant resides in a sidebar that stays with you, maintaining context as you switch from editing video in Premiere to retouching photos in Lightroom.

The Multi-Model Ecosystem

In a major strategic shift, Adobe has opened Firefly to third-party “Partner Models.” This means creators can now choose the best “brain” for a specific task within the Adobe workflow:

  • Video: Access to Runway Gen-4.5, Kling 3.0, and Google’s Veo 3.1.

  • Images: Integration of Google Gemini 3 (Nano Banana Pro) alongside Adobe’s own Firefly Image Model 5.

  • Audio: High-fidelity vocal and sound generation via ElevenLabs Multilingual v2.

Closing the Feedback Loop

Adobe also announced a tighter integration with Frame.io. The Firefly AI Assistant can now “read” comments and critiques left by clients on a video or design and automatically apply the requested changes. This reduces the friction between review and revision, potentially shortening production cycles by days.

Availability

The Firefly AI Assistant is entering Public Beta this week for Creative Cloud subscribers via the web-based Firefly portal and the flagship desktop apps. Advanced video and audio features—including “Studio-Quality Audio Enhance”—are rolling out as part of the April 2026 update.
