Apple is ready to take the fight to Meta’s doorstep. According to internal reports and supply chain leaks as of April 13, 2026, the Cupertino giant is moving full steam ahead with its own pair of AI smart glasses. Codenamed N50, this wearable is designed not as a mixed-reality headset like the Vision Pro, but as a sleek, everyday accessory aimed squarely at the popular Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
Premium Design: The “Tim Cook” Look
Apple is testing at least four distinct frame designs to ensure broad appeal. These range from a classic large rectangular frame reminiscent of Wayfarers to a slim, sophisticated rectangular design modeled after the personal glasses worn by CEO Tim Cook. In a departure from competitors who often use plastic, Apple is reportedly using premium acetate, a material favored by luxury eyewear brands for its durability and high-end feel.
Feature Set: Siri’s Live Feed
Unlike augmented reality glasses, the N50 will not feature an in-lens display. Instead, it focuses on “environmental intelligence.”
-
Computer Vision: Built-in cameras with vertically oriented oval lenses will allow the glasses to “see” what you see.
-
AI Integration: Through Siri and Apple Intelligence, the glasses will provide contextual help—identifying landmarks, translating signs in real-time through audio, and setting reminders based on visual cues.
-
Seamless Media: The frames will include integrated speakers for music and calls, and the ability to capture photos and videos that sync instantly to your iPhone.
