New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the central government is actively working to reduce the economic and security impact of the ongoing tensions in West Asia, while accusing the Indian National Congress of spreading unnecessary panic among the public.
Speaking at a public event, Modi said global conflicts and geopolitical tensions can affect fuel prices, trade routes, and supply chains, but assured that India is prepared to manage the situation. He stated that the government has taken several steps to ensure that essential supplies, including fuel and cooking gas, remain stable across the country.
The Prime Minister emphasized that authorities are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East and coordinating with international partners to safeguard India’s economic interests. He added that measures are also being taken to protect Indian citizens and shipping routes in sensitive regions.
Criticising the opposition, Modi said some political parties are attempting to create fear among people by exaggerating the impact of global events. According to him, such actions can harm public confidence and the country’s economic stability.
Meanwhile, government officials have also appealed to citizens not to panic over fuel supplies, stating that India has diversified its energy sources and maintains strategic reserves to deal with disruptions.
Political reactions to the Prime Minister’s remarks are expected, with opposition leaders likely to respond to the criticism in the coming days.
