New Delhi, March 24, 2026: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a comprehensive update of voter lists across multiple states ahead of the 2026 elections, aiming to ensure transparency, accuracy, and inclusivity in the electoral process.
According to officials, the revision exercise includes the addition of new voters, removal of duplicate or deceased entries, and correction of existing records. The move is seen as a crucial step in preparing for upcoming Assembly and general elections, where accurate voter data plays a key role in maintaining fair democratic practices.
The ECI has urged eligible citizens, especially first-time voters, to verify their details and complete registration through official online portals and designated facilitation centers. Special drives have been launched in urban and rural areas to increase awareness and participation. Booth-level officers (BLOs) are also conducting door-to-door verification in several regions to ensure that no eligible voter is left out.
Officials highlighted that the updated voter list will incorporate advanced data verification techniques to minimize errors.
