NEW DELHI – After weeks of teasing, Xiaomi has officially kicked off the first sale of the Redmi Note 15 SE 5G (Special Edition) today, April 7, 2026. Launched as part of the Xiaomi Fan Festival 2026, this device is designed to offer a more refined, premium experience than the standard Note 15, specifically targeting the highly competitive sub-₹20,000 segment in India.
Design: The Crimson Reserve Vegan Leather
The standout feature of the Special Edition is its physical design. While the standard Note 15 series focuses on glass and polycarbonate, the Note 15 SE introduces the “Crimson Reserve” variant. This model features a premium vegan leather back panel in a striking deep red, providing a sophisticated texture and a secure grip.
Despite its large internals, the device is impressively sleek, measuring just 7.35mm in thickness and weighing a lightweight 178 grams. It also brings enhanced durability with an IP66/IP65 rating, protecting it from dust and powerful water jets—a rare “peace of mind” feature at this price point.
Visuals and Battery: The Efficiency Play
The Note 15 SE 5G sports a 6.77-inch FHD+ Curved AMOLED display. This panel is a visual powerhouse, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, a 12-bit color depth, and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, ensuring it remains perfectly legible under the harsh Indian summer sun. It also incorporates 3840Hz PWM dimming to minimize eye strain during late-night scrolling.
To power this display, Xiaomi has equipped the SE with a 5,800mAh Silicon-Carbon battery—a larger capacity than the standard Note 15. The company claims this allows for over 44 hours of typical usage. While it supports 45W Turbo Charging v3.0, the focus here is clearly on long-term endurance and battery health, with Xiaomi promising a “48-month lag-free experience.”
Camera and Performance
The camera system has been streamlined for the Special Edition. It features a 50MP “MasterPixel” primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). While it drops the high megapixel count of the Pro models, the SE’s 50MP sensor is optimized for 4K video recording and better low-light consistency. On the front, a 20MP wide-angle lens handles selfies and video calls.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm). While not a gaming flagship, this chipset is built for efficiency and 5G stability, making it a dependable daily driver for multitasking and social media.
