Motorola Moto G Stylus (2026): Active Pen and AI Features Take Center Stage

CHICAGO – Motorola continues its tradition of being the only major player to offer an integrated stylus in the mid-range segment, officially launching the Moto G Stylus (2026) today. This year, however, the “stylus experience” has received its most significant overhaul in years, evolving from a simple passive pointer into a fully-fledged Active Stylus with advanced AI integration.

The New Active Stylus: Beyond Writing

The centerpiece of the 2026 model is the new built-in active pen. Unlike previous iterations, this stylus now supports tilt and pressure sensitivity, mimicking the “pen-on-paper” feel typically reserved for high-end professional tablets. This allows for nuanced shading in creative apps and finer precision in handwriting.

Motorola has also integrated the stylus deeply with Google Gemini. A new feature called “Circle to Search” allows users to long-press the pen button and circle any text or image on the screen to get instant AI-powered search results. Additionally, the Handwriting Calculator can now solve complex handwritten equations in real-time without the need for a separate app.

Flagship-Level Visuals and Optics

The Moto G Stylus (2026) isn’t just about the pen. It features a stunning 6.7-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 1.5K Super HD resolution. Breaking records for its class, the screen hits a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, ensuring perfect visibility even under direct midday sunlight.

The camera system has also moved upmarket. It is equipped with a 50MP Ultra Pixel main sensor (the Sony LYTIA 700C), featuring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Motorola’s new “Photo Enhancement Engine” uses AI to fine-tune color and texture, while a 13MP Ultrawide & Macro lens rounds out the rear setup. For creators, the device now supports 4K video recording across every lens.

Performance and Durability

Running on Android 16 out of the box, the device is powered by a high-efficiency mid-range chipset paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. In a move toward better longevity, the phone is now IP68 and IP69 rated for water and dust resistance. The battery provides nearly four hours of continuous writing time with the stylus, and the pen itself fully recharges in just 15 minutes when docked.
