While OnePlus targets gamers, Samsung is looking to reclaim its foldable dominance with the first major leaks of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Set for a late summer debut, the Z Fold 8 is rumored to solve the one issue that has plagued the series since its inception: the screen crease.
The “Seamless” Internal Display
Supply chain reports suggest Samsung has finalized a new hinge mechanism and a thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) v4 that allows the screen to fold in a “teardrop” shape with a wider radius. This results in an inner display that appears completely flat when unfolded. Additionally, the Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a wider cover screen, moving away from the narrow “remote control” aspect ratio of previous generations to a more traditional smartphone shape.
