Motorola is set to double down on its premium mid-range momentum in India with the official teaser of the Motorola Edge 70 series. Following the successful debut of the Edge 70 Fusion in March, Motorola today, April 16, 2026, confirmed via a Flipkart microsite that the flagship-tier Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G will officially launch in India on April 22 at 12:00 PM IST.
Performance: The Dimensity 8500 Extreme Debut
The highlight of the Edge 70 Pro is its processing power. Leaked Geekbench listings and official teasers confirm the device will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset. This 4nm processor is claimed to deliver an AnTuTu score exceeding 2.4 million points, positioning it as a powerhouse for gaming and multitasking. It will be paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 4,600 sq mm vapor cooling chamber to keep thermals in check.
Design and Display: Impossibly Thin and Bright
Motorola continues its partnership with Pantone, offering the Edge 70 Pro in three distinct curated finishes:
-
Pantone Lily White: Featuring a marble finish.
-
Pantone Tea: Sporting a “satin luxe” finish.
-
Pantone Titan: Flaunting a unique tailored fabric finish.
The device will feature a 6.8-inch 1.5K quad-curved AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Breaking records for outdoor legibility, the screen boasts a peak brightness of 5,200 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Despite its slim profile, the phone maintains high durability with IP68 and IP69 ratings and MIL-810H military-grade certification.
Camera and Battery
The Edge 70 Pro is expected to redefine low-light photography in its segment with a 50MP Sony LYT-710 primary sensor featuring OIS. This is complemented by a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP front-facing camera for high-resolution selfies and 4K video recording across all lenses.
In terms of endurance, the Pro model will house a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W TurboPower fast charging. This follows the “battery-first” trend seen in the standard Edge 70 Fusion, which launched earlier with a massive 7,000mAh cell.
Software and AI
The series will debut with Android 16-based Hello UI, featuring a heavy integration of “Moto AI.” This includes native support for AI tools like Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity, alongside a commitment of three years of OS upgrades and five years of security patches.
