A fire triggered by a drone strike near Dubai International Airport was brought under control on Monday after briefly disrupting flight operations in the area.
According to authorities, a drone hit a fuel storage tank in the vicinity of the airport, sparking a large fire that prompted emergency response teams to rush to the scene. As a precautionary measure, flight operations at the airport were temporarily suspended, and some flights were diverted while safety checks were carried out.
Civil defence teams quickly responded and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident.
The drone strike occurred amid rising regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The attack caused travel disruptions around the airport, with passengers advised to check flight updates as authorities assessed the situation and worked to restore normal operations.
Dubai authorities said investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the drone incident while aviation operations gradually resumed after the fire was brought under control.
